What happens when I ask you to delete my data?

A plain-English walkthrough of what happens when you ask us to delete your personal data — how to request it, how we verify it's you, what we delete, what happens to backups and third-party providers, how long it takes, and the confirmation you get.

You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you at any time.

Using ZiplineOS through your employer or a broker? If your account was set up by an organisation, we may need to coordinate your request with them. Get in touch either way and we'll point you in the right direction.

How to request deletion

No special wording is needed. We track every request through to completion.

Verification

Before deleting anything, we confirm the request genuinely comes from you — usually by checking it was sent from your registered email address, or by asking you to confirm a detail only the account holder would know.

What we delete

We locate your personal information across our systems and permanently delete it where possible, or de-identify it where permanent deletion isn't technically possible. We also direct any third-party providers processing data on our behalf to do the same — except where a provider is legally required to retain certain records (for example, a payments provider keeping transaction history).

Backups

Your data is removed from live systems straight away. We maintain secure encrypted backups for disaster recovery; these run on a short automatic cycle and overwrite within a few weeks, so your data does not persist there indefinitely. Backup copies are never used for any purpose — they simply expire.

We keep the minimum the law requires, for only as long as required — for example, certain billing or transaction records for tax purposes. Records held on this basis are kept securely, used for nothing else, and deleted once the required period ends.

Timelines

  • Receipt confirmed within a few business days.
  • Request completed and confirmed by email within 30 days — the timeframe our Privacy Policy commits to.

If a request is unusually complex, we'll tell you why and keep you updated.
